Day 13 - Like in a Hitchcock movie!

Last night I went to eat at a fine restaurant with a friend. The restaurant was very classy and the cuisine was superb. I opted for a 50’s elegant ladylike outfit. It made me feel as if I was in a Hitchcock movie. Don’t get me wrong, there was no mystery or crime involved, LOL! It’s just that I think certain places call for certain looks and that restaurant was the perfect place to wear a 50’s style dress.
My make up was done accordingly to the outfit. Winged black eyeliner and red lips. I love the make up of that period! It looks so elegant without being outdated.

Dress: H&M
Shoes: Zara
Belt: it was a gift
I forgot to take pics of my bag again, which was a black satin clutch bag by Avon (yes, the cosmetics company!). I’ll show it to you in some other outfit...

Face: Avon perfectwear foundation, Mac select cover concealer, ELF HD powder
Eyes: NYX white e/s, light brown e/s from the 26 Coastal Scents palette, Mac blacktrack fluidline, Mac zoom lash and Benefit badgal mascaras
Cheeks: Mac blush in Peaches
Lips: La Roche-Posay lipliner in 06, NYX lipstick in Chaos
(note: The lipstick is not as orangey-red as it appears in the pictures. It's darker and more wine-red.)

Which is your favorite cuisine? Do you like eating in fine classy restaurants or do you prefer the more low key taverns and dinners?

Day 12 - Black and Brown!

Today I had a business lunch so I chose a smart - office style - outfit. I mixed black with brown, something that used to be amongst the “fashion faux pas”! To be honest I always liked wearing black with brown. I think that rules are meant to be broken and if you have some sense of style, you immediately know if something looks good or bad. Of course there are people that have an amazing sense of what goes with what, like Patricia Field for example. The outfits in SATC or in “The Devil wears Prada” were out of this world. She manages to combine clothes and accessories in ways I could never imagine!
As far as my make up is concerned, I kept it rather simple. And here is a tip for a quick, morning look: you apply a neutral e/s on the lid (it can be light brown, taupe, beige, something not very dark or glittery) and with a black or brown eyeliner pencil you draw outwards a small line at the outer part of the lash line (hope I’m making sense here!). It doesn’t have to be neat, because you will then take a small smudge brush and smudge that line so it will blend with the other color (blend outwards). Add some mascara and you’re done! This way the eyes are much more defined without wearing too much make up. If you have any questions about this or any other make up related subject, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Well, here’s today’s outfit: (note: I ironed my skirt before wearing it, but you know how linen gets after you ...just wear it!)

Day 11 - Gipsy chic!

OK, yesterday it was a peasant blouse, today it’s a gipsy head scarf - hoop earrings combo, something’s happening here! My inner fashionista wants me to live in the country? Nahhh! It just happens that I like these styles, including the bohemian which I’m also going to do very soon.
So, I think the scarf and the earrings are the ones that add the gipsy “touch” to this look. I love scarves and I have a big collection. Most of them were given to me by my mother and my grandmother and I love them all. You can wear them in so many ways and create different looks.
I played around with my camera and lightroom settings a bit, I hope you like the result. My brother is photographer but unfortunately he doesn’t have the time to take my pics everyday. So I’ll just have to settle with my little compact camera and my tripod and do the best I can... :(

Day 10 - A peasant in the city!

I’m definitely not a peasant. But my blouse is, lol! I wore this today thinking I should wear something warmer, since we are entering autumn, but it was actually a mistake. It is still hot here in the morning, so no need for winter clothes just yet.
I really don’t have anything else to write about this morning’s outfit. Only that I forgot to take pics of my bag, but I guess I’ll do that in another post. I still have 355 days to go (OMG!)!!!
The make up was simple once again, and I accessorized with only a belt, because every piece of jewelry I tried on, seemed too much with this blouse.

Blouse: BSB (a greek brand)
Tank top: from a cheap random shop in my city

Are you a city or a country person? Would you give it all up and go live in a farm? (I wouldn’t! I’m a "bonafide city gal”!!!)

Day 9 - Look for less (Ashley Olsen)

Today I decided to do a “look for less”. I saw this picture of Ashley Olsen:

(source: www.instyle.com)

in which she is wearing Balenciaga shoes, a pair of black skinny jeans and a light blue shirt. This picture is from 3 years ago, but I believe this outfit still looks great today. After all, skinny jeans and platform shoes are still in fashion! I love the Olsen twins’ style. It’s kind of like street fashion, only far more expensive!
My look is very similar I suppose, except that all the items are from Zara (minor detail, lol!).
Her make up in the picture seems to be very natural, so I kept mine very simple as well. How convenient, since I wasn’t so much in the mood for make up. And yes, that does happen to me too from time to time!
So, here it is:

Shirt: Zara
Jeans: Zara
Shoes: guess what? Zara!
Watch: vintage Citizen (from my mom)

Face: Korres watermelon oil free tinted moisturiser SPF 30, Nivea perfect cover concealer, ELF complexion perfection
Eyes: NYX highlight e/s, Stila major lash mascara in brown
Cheeks: Elf blush in Candid coral
Lips: Bourjois Eau de gloss in moka frappé

I’m thinking of doing these “looks for less” every once and a while. Do you like them? Do fashion icons inspire you?

Day 8 - The last night of summer (I hope not!)

Last night I went out for drinks with my friends and it was such a lovely night. We went to a Bar-Restaurant called “Pisina” (=swimming pool), which actually has a swimming pool and we sat outside near the pool. It seemed like the last night of summer, especially since now it’s pouring outside.
I didn’t have to time to take my outfit pics before I left, so I took them when I got back. So please bear with me if I seem a little sleepy!

Jeans: Zara
Waistcoat: H&M
Shoes: Zara
Pendant: H&M
Bracelets: gold charm bracelet made by me, crystal bracelet Tally Weijl

Face: Avon perfectwear foundation, Mac mineralize skin finish natural, Kryolan camouflage concealer
Eyes: Purple e/s on the lid from NYX Green eyes palette, Grey from Mac Tone:Grey palette on the crease, NYX white e/s on the brow bone, Bourjois black eyeliner, Mac Zoom lash mascara
Cheeks: Korres Monoi oil bronzing powder 01, NYX blush in silky rose
Lips: Erre due lipliner no23, Seventeen ultra gloss lipgloss no22 frosty

No questions in today's post, sorry. This weather is making me feel depressed and I can't think of anything! But I do have a bonus picture with me and Loulou:

She was sleeping on my pillow when I got back and I couldn't resist taking a picture with her! Normally she has a lot more fur (she is a Persian), but I took her to the groomer because her fur had become a mess that couldn't be untangled. But she still is a cutie, isn't she?!

Day 7 - Living in the fast lane!

Today I’m wearing Valentino! Valentino Rossi that is, not Valentino the designer, LOL!!! If you don’t know who Valentino Rossi is, he is an Italian professional motorcycle racer and multiple MotoGP World Champion. They call him “Vale” or “Doctor” and I’m a big fan of his skills and personality. It may come as a surprise, but I like watching Moto GP and I like sports cars too. Go figure!
I had some errands to run so I chose to wear my “Vale” T-shirt, a pair of Diesel flare jeans, and white wedges. I accessorized the outfit with black braces (they came with a pair of black jeans I got from Zara 2 years ago). I know that this outfit would go much better with a pair of Converse All Stars, but the jeans are so long that I have to wear them with platforms or wedges (otherwise I will step on it and fall flat at my face and that’s not very fashionable, is it?!).
The make up was almost “au naturel”, because I don’t like wearing a lot of make up with casual outfits.
